First 1,000 participants will receive a swag bag

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (June 5, 2023)Registration is open for the third annual Emergency Nurses Week 5K. Presented by the Emergency Nurses Association, this virtual race is the perfect way for everyone around the world to honor and celebrate the incredible work of emergency nurses.

This virtual event will take place during the association’s annual Emergency Nurses Week, which kicks off on Oct. 8. After participants have completed a 5K on their favorite local route, they will be able to upload their results and the top finishers will receive a prize. Participants have through Oct. 14 to complete their 5K.

“Participating in a 5K is a great way to stay in mental, physical and spiritual shape,” said ENA President Terry Foster, MSN, RN, CEN, CPEN, CCRN, TCRN, FAEN. “To be able to participate from anywhere, while supporting the ENA Foundation and emergency nurses – plus a free swag bag – I’m not sure how it could get much better!”.

In 2022, a total of $51,000 was raised with proceeds benefiting the ENA Foundation through the EN Week 5K and event organizers hope to top that in 2023. The ENA Foundation’s mission is to empower emergency nurses by providing resources through academic scholarships, research grants and educational opportunities so they can continue to grow and provide the best care for their patients.

The deadline to register is Oct. 4. The first 1,000 participants to register will receive a swag bag with a t-shirt, medal and goodies from sponsors. This year’s sponsors include NSO, Teleflex, Xtra Mile Running and Wintrust Community Bank.
