Since 1989, the Emergency Nurses Association has recognized the second Wednesday in October as Emergency Nurses DayTM. In 2001, ENA expanded the celebration to a full week to shine a bigger light on emergency nurses.
Each year, the association celebrates and honors the incredible work of emergency nurses around the world by highlighting members, offering giveaways, providing discounts, engaging with state- and federal-level legislators for recognition, hosting the annual EN Week 5k to raise funds for the ENA Foundation and much more.
This year, Emergency Nurses WeekTM is Oct. 8-14 and Emergency Nurses DayTM is Oct. 11.
ENA provides an annual planning guide which features templates for social media posts, emails, thank you cards, posters and more. This year the planning guide is even more robust, with new templates hospitals can customize, Zoom backgrounds and PowerPoint templates. The EN Week 5k virtually brings together people from around the world to celebrate emergency nurses while also benefiting the ENA Foundation. During this week, participants run, walk or push 5k on their favorite local route and post their results.
