Call for Public Comment: ENA Scope and Standards of Practice, 3rd Edition

Every five years, the ENA Scope and Standards of Practice undergoes a review and revision.

Specialty nursing organizations such as ENA serve as custodians and stewards of their respective organization’s nursing scope and standards of practice. ENA is responsible for preparing the specialty scope and standards document and integrating recommendations from the public review period as warranted, and obtaining approval by the ENA board of directors.

We invite ENA members and the general public to review this draft of the revised Scope and Standards document during the public comment period that runs July 12 through Aug. 12.

Clinical Practice Guidelines

ENA Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) are evidence-based documents that facilitate the application of current evidence into everyday emergency nursing practice. CPGs contain recommendations based on a systematic review and critical analysis of the literature about a clinical question. CPGs are created following the rigorous process described in ENA’s Requirements for the Development of Clinical Practice Guidelines. The purpose of CPGs is to positively impact patient care in emergency nursing by bridging the gap between practice and currently available evidence.
