Jennifer Schmitz, MSN, EMT-P, CEN, CPEN, CNML, FNP-C, is in her second year as a member of the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.
Schmitz has spent her entire career in emergency nursing, primarily in a community hospital setting. She has held a variety of positions including staff nurse, charge nurse, nurse educator, nurse manager and most recently, as a nursing director overseeing two emergency departments and the obstetrical unit for Southern Maine Health Care in Biddeford, Maine.
Schmitz joined ENA in 2002 as a new graduate nurse. Since 2012, she has been actively involved in the local, state and national level. She served a two-year term as Maine ENA State Council president and was a member of the council’s board of directors. She participated on the ENA Operations Committee from 2016-17. Schmitz is a TNCC and ENPC instructor.
Schmitz has an associate degree in paramedicine from Southern Maine Community College. She earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Southern Maine in Portland, Maine, and later completed her master’s degree in family nurse practitioner at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. She is a certified emergency nurse, certified pediatric emergency nurse and a certified nurse manager and leader.
