Leslie Kees, MSN, RN, CEN, is in her first year as a member of the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.

Kees works as the senior director of emergency services and critical care services within the Providence system in Washington. With more than 16 years of experience in emergency nursing, she is a respected leader known for her commitment to advancing patient care, operational excellence and professional development within acute and critical care environments.

In her current role, Kees provides strategic and operational oversight for two emergency departments, two ICUs and the stroke program at Providence Regional Medical Center. She is responsible for driving excellence in clinical quality, patient safety, staffing and performance improvement across these high-acuity service lines. Kees collaborates closely with physicians, nursing leaders and interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient flow, effective resource utilization and the highest standards of care and patient experience.

Kees began her health care career as a CNA, where she developed a foundation in compassionate, patient-centered care. Her transition to the emergency department ignited a deep passion for emergency nursing, inspiring her to pursue her BSN and MSN and to become a certified emergency nurse.

An active member of the Washington ENA Council, Kees is deeply involved in her local chapter, serving most recently as the president. She has contributed to initiatives promoting professional growth, advocacy and excellence in emergency nursing practice. Her leadership and engagement have supported education, collaboration and the advancement of emergency nursing across the state.

Recognized for her strong, people-centered leadership style, Kees leads with integrity, vision and empathy. She is known for her ability to build high-performing teams, mentor emerging leaders and guide staff through change with clarity and confidence. Her approach fosters trust and empowerment, creating an environment where innovation and excellence thrive.

Through her continued service and leadership, Kees remains dedicated to fostering collaboration, inspiring future nurse leaders and advancing the standards of emergency and critical care nursing.
