Tyler Babcock, MSN, MBA, RN, CEN, NEA-BC, TCRN, is in his second year as a member of the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.
Babcock currently serves as a staff nurse with the Allegheny Health Network internal travel staffing team, supporting EDs throughout the health system’s 10 hospitals.
With more than 16 years of experience in the health care field, Babcock’s career began in emergency medical services, where he worked as an EMS provider and served as an ED technician while completing nursing school. He launched his nursing career as an emergency nurse immediately upon graduation, gaining diverse experience across a spectrum of settings, including Level I trauma centers, community hospitals and rural critical access facilities.
As a leader, Babcock has managed a variety of EDs, including a pivotal position as the unit director for UPMC Presbyterian’s emergency department, where he managed operations at Pittsburgh’s largest Level I trauma center. Prior to his current role, he served as the director of nursing for a 146-bed community hospital outside of Pittsburgh at which he oversaw all aspects of inpatient nursing, including the ICU and emergency department.
Babcock has been actively involved with the ENA since 2016, when he revitalized a local chapter. He subsequently served as the Pennsylvania ENA Council’s membership chair, was elected president in 2020 and completed a three-year term on the council’s board of directors. Additionally, he has had the honor of serving as chair of the ENA Lantern Award Committee and the ED Leadership Committee, contributing to the advancement of emergency nursing.
Academically, Babcock earned his BSN from Gannon University in 2012 and has furthered his education with his MSN and an MBA from Carlow University, which he obtained in 2018.
