Project to highlight efforts to support wellness and attract the future workforce

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (June 1, 2022) – The Emergency Nurses Association, in partnership with dBase Media, on Wednesday announced plans for a unique online video series focused on solutions to today’s challenges in emergency nursing and how that work is shaping the specialty’s future.

The series, scheduled to debut in September as part of Emergency Nursing 2022 in Denver, aims to bring awareness to concerns about staffing levels, nurse mental health and well-being, workplace safety, and other current issues by highlighting the many ways ENA and its partners are working toward systematic change to improve the nursing pipeline, create safer work environments and encourages nurses to reinvest in their careers through skill development and continuing education.

“The pandemic has highlighted the incredible impact emergency nurses have on their patients and communities as well as the challenges we encounter. As our specialty faces workforce shortages, more must be done to attract and retain talent for the future and to continue to save lives,” said ENA President Jennifer Schmitz, MSN, EMT-P, CEN, CPEN, CNML, FNP-C, NE-BC. “This series will provide a holistic view of how we’re attracting and developing the emergency nurses of tomorrow, exploring the unique and rewarding career opportunities, the high levels of training and development through lifelong learning, and the strong peer group community with a focus on support, wellbeing and compassion.”

The series will offer a glimpse into a variety of programs, products and initiatives designed to support ED nurses in their daily work and their career trajectory. In particular, the series aims to emphasize: new evidence-based technologies and clinical advancements to bolster nurses’ patient care practice; measures being taken to mitigate violence in the emergency department; the importance of mental health and well-being; education and training offerings which help nurses identify professional growth opportunities at the bedside and beyond.

In addition to its debut at Emergency Nursing 2022, the series will be hosted on the ENA website and YouTube channel and promoted via an omni-channel campaign managed by ENA and dBase Media.
