Vanessa Gorman, MSN, RN, FAEN, FCENA, is entering her third year overall as a member of the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.

In addition to her board service, which included a one-year term in 2022, she has volunteered on ENA’s International Advisory Council since 2015 and joined the ED Leadership Committee in 2023.

Gorman was born and resides in Melbourne, Australia, and remains an active member in CENA, the Australian equivalent of ENA. In more than 27 years working in emergency nursing across many facilities, including tertiary centers and metropolitan hospital settings, she has held a variety of positions such as staff nurse, floor coordinator, nurse educator and nurse manager. In 2020, she joined the statewide COVID-19 response.

Gorman has recently been appointed to a clinical operations director role for the statewide ambulance service in Victoria, Australia, which provides more than one million points of care every year. Her extensive experience in operational leadership and emergency nursing have been translational skills that she now applies to the pre-hospital setting.

She joined ENA in the mid-2000s and, after a short lapse in membership, rejoined in 2015 when she was looking to work with like-minded people around the world. Her active involvement with the International Advisory Council included her serving as the chair in 2019 and 2020. Her contributions to ENA’s annual conference include trauma education delivery. She is a strong advocate for international collaboration.

Gorman completed her bachelor’s degree nursing program in Melbourne, Australia, and went on to earn a graduate diploma in emergency nursing, graduate diploma in health services management and a master’s degree in specialty nursing. An accredited international trauma coder, Gorman also currently holds ACLS, TNCC, ITLS and TNP accreditation.
