SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (Oct. 27, 2025) – Through an extended partnership, the Emergency Nurses Association and Excellus Academie are expanding the availability of specialized emergency nursing education in Europe.

Based in Haarlem, Netherlands, Excellus Academie provides training across the acute care chain. The ENA has worked with Excellus to bring verified instructors to deliver ENA’s Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course and Trauma Nursing Core Course to nurses in Europe, beginning with instruction in English and Dutch.

“Excellus Academie has been an important education partner for ENA since 2021. Our continued work together means more nurses will be better prepared to deliver specialized emergency care around the world,” said Ryan Oglesby, PhD, MHA, RN, CEN, CFRN, NEA-BC. “These evidence-based courses lead to more confident and competent nurses and better clinical outcomes for patients.”

“ENA’s unique ‘by nurses, for nurses’ philosophy reflects a deep understanding of what drives quality in emergency nursing and perfectly aligns with our own values,” said Excellus Academie Executive Director Bryan van Geldorp. “This renewed agreement strengthens our shared commitment to advancing emergency nursing education and reinforces Excellus Academie’s role as a key facilitator for ENA courses in Europe.”

Excellus will host the first German-language TNCC course in Stuttgart, Germany, in the first quarter of 2026. Upon completion of a French translation in the coming months, the reach of both courses will be even greater.

Since ENA launched the Trauma Nursing Core Course in 1986 and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course in 1993, more than 1.5 million learners have completed these courses. Excellus Academie is ENA’s largest education partner outside North America.

The Emergency Nurses Association is the premier professional nursing association dedicated to defining the future of emergency nursing through advocacy, education, research, innovation, and leadership. Founded in 1970, ENA has proven to be an indispensable resource to the global emergency nursing community. With nearly 45,000 members worldwide, ENA advocates for patient safety, develops industry-leading practice standards and guidelines and guides emergency health care public policy. ENA members have expertise in triage, patient care, disaster preparedness, and all aspects of emergency care. Additional information is available at www.ena.org.
