ENA Statement on End of Federal Government Shutdown
“The official end of the federal government shutdown on Wednesday marks a starting point for renewed opportunities by Congress to pass vital funding and other legislation of deep importance to ENA and the emergency nursing community.
Among the most crucial, continued support the Emergency Medical Services for Children, Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development, MISSION ZERO and Dr. Lorna Breen Health Care Provider Protection programs is key to the work done every day by emergency nurses.
ENA also encourages Congress to act upon meaningful legislation to better protect health care workers from workplace violence, reduce patient boarding and provide tools to battle the opioid crisis.
After 43 days, now is the time for lawmakers to regain their focus on the programs and services which support health care workers, particularly emergency nurses, who diligently continued to deliver care without disruption since Oct. 1.” – ENA President Ryan Oglesby
