In a joint letter sent to every member of Congress, a total of 230 organizations - including the Emergency Nurses Association and American Academy of Pediatrics - called for a reassessment of recent changes made to the childhood immunization schedule by the Department of Health and Human Services.

The letter, in part, emphasizes the prior schedule proved to be effective in keeping children healthy, while expressing concern the revised immunization schedule will create more confusion for families and health care providers and leave more people unprotected from serious vaccine-preventable diseases.
