Heidi Gilbert MSN, RN, CEN, SANE-A, TCRN, is in her second year as a member of the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.

Gilbert brings over 25 years of diverse clinical experience and leadership in emergency nursing, beginning her nursing career as an LPN in 1997 and earned her associate’s degree in nursing from Eastern Oklahoma State College in 2003. She received bachelor’s degree from East Central University, Oklahoma, in 2013 and completed her master’s in nursing education from Western Governors University in 2020.

Gilbert’s clinical expertise spans emergency care, trauma, forensic nursing and the care of victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. As a certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, she has been a fierce advocate for the rights and compassionate care of victims. Currently, she serves as the emergency department clinical educator and SANE program coordinator for Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma, where she oversees clinical education and forensic nursing programs.

Driven by a deep passion for emergency nursing and rural health care, she has dedicated herself to improving care delivery through education and advocacy. Following the untimely death of her sister in 2013, she become an outspoken advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She is a board member of Wings of Hope, a domestic violence shelter, and serves on various other domestic violence, sexual assault and rural trauma advisory boards across Oklahoma.

Gilbert is also a sought-after speaker, known for her engaging, personal and impactful presentations, covering topics such as mental health in emergency nurses and trauma-informed care for victims of violence.

As an ENA member since 2014, she has held various leadership positions within the organization serving as Oklahoma ENA State Council secretary, as well as chair for its Government Affairs, Media and Education Chairs committees. Internationally, she contributed as a member and chair of ENA’s Trauma Committee from 2015-18 and as member and co-chair of the Conference Education Planning Committee from 2020-23.
