Academic scholarships are available for education ranging from associate to doctoral degrees. The Foundation also provided 43 conference scholarships for nurses to attend ENA’s annual conference.

ENA Foundation Scholarships

Anita Dorr Graduate Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of ENA’s co-founder Anita Dorr, RN, FAEN, (1915-1972). Anita was the first executive director of the ENA and her contributions to the specialty of emergency nursing were widely recognized. Anita is credited with the 1967 invention of the first emergency nursing crisis cart, commonly known as the “Crash Cart.”

 

Requirements: This scholarship is awarded to an emergency nurse pursuing a master’s degree in nursing with a focus in administration. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) Doctoral Scholarship

Support for this scholarship is provided by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN) organization. This scholarship is awarded to an emergency nurse with a current BCEN credential (CEN, CPEN, CFRN, CTRN or TCRN) who is pursuing a doctoral degree in nursing.

 

Requirements: Applicants must show proof of acceptance and enrollment into an accredited doctoral program in nursing and must include a statement about their emergency nursing career intent. Applicants who are more than six months beyond the completion of all formal coursework and comprehensive examinations are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

Support for this scholarship is provided by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN). The mission of the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing is to certify nurses who provide emergency nursing across the emergency care continuum.

 

Requirements: This scholarship is awarded to an emergency nurse with a current BCEN credential (CEN, CPEN, CFRN, CTRN, or TCRN) who is pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

California ENA State Council – Vicki Dippner-Robertson Memorial Scholarship

Funding for this scholarship, in memory of Vicki Dippner-Robertson, is made possible by the generosity of the California ENA State Council and its members through contributions to the 2016 ENA Foundation State Fundraising Challenge campaign.

 

Requirements: This scholarship is awarded to an emergency nurse pursuing a master’s degree in nursing. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

Charles Kunz Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship is named in memory of Charles Kunz, father of 2005 ENA President, Patricia Kunz Howard, PhD, RN, CEN, CPEN, NE-BC, FAEN. The scholarship is intended for current emergency nurses pursuing a higher level of education (RN to BSN).

 

Requirements: This scholarship is awarded to a registered nurse who is pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Applicant must be a current registered nurse and meet all standard eligibility requirements.

Colorado ENA State Council – Colorado State Council Scholarship

Elizabeth B. Moore Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship

This scholarship is named in memory of ENA lifetime member Elizabeth “Betty” B. Moore, (1929-2014). Betty was an early ENA member and an advocate for continuing education who always gave back to others through her community and medical mission trips. She was also a mentor to many.

 

Requirements: This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate nursing student who demonstrates interest and merit in emergency nursing as well as financial need. Applicants do not need to be members of ENA but must provide a letter of reference from a current ENA member. This scholarship is eligible for renewal.

Requirements: Applicants must show proof of acceptance and enrollment into an accredited doctoral program in nursing and must include a statement about their emergency nursing career intent. ENA Foundation State Challenge Scholarships - Emergency Department Employees

Support for these scholarships is made possible by the generous donations received from ENA members through fundraising events and campaigns. Eligible emergency department employees include but are not limited to – emergency medical technicians, clerical coordinators, CNA’s, registration clerks, etc.

Requirements: Applicants must be pursuing an associate or baccalaureate degree in nursing. The applicant will be required to include a letter from the Emergency Department nurse director/manager stating the applicant’s interest in emergency nursing. Applicant must also provide proof of at least one year emergency department employment. Applicants do not need to be members of ENA but must provide a letter of reference from a current ENA member.

Requirements: To honor Judy’s wish to continue to further emergency nursing education and keep her legacy alive, this scholarship is awarded to an emergency nurse pursuing a nurse practitioner degree. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

New York State ENA September 11 Scholarship – Rescue Workers

Funding for these scholarships is made possible by the generosity of the New York ENA State Council and members through the New York ENA September 11 Endowment.These scholarships are not limited geographically and are awarded to rescue workers who are obtaining an associates or baccalaureate degree in nursing. Eligible rescue workers include pre-hospital care providers, firefighters, and police officers.

 

Requirements: Proof of acceptance into an accredited nursing program and proof of at least one year of pre-hospital work experience is required. Applicants do not need to be members of ENA but must provide a letter of reference from a current ENA member.

Pamela Stinson Kidd Memorial Doctoral Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Pamela Kidd by the ENA Board of Directors and the ENA Foundation Board of Trustees. Pam was a longtime member of ENA and served on the ENA Board of Directors and was an exemplary educator and nurse researcher who mentored many nurses. This scholarship, named in her honor, is funded by general donations received by the ENA Foundation and through multiple annual fundraising campaigns. This scholarship is awarded to an emergency nurse pursuing a doctoral degree. The applicant’s dissertation must be related to emergency nursing.

 

Requirements: Applicants must show proof of acceptance and enrollment into an accredited doctoral program in nursing and must include a statement about their emergency nursing career intent. Applicants who are more than six months beyond the completion of all formal coursework and comprehensive examinations are not eligible to apply for this scholarship. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

Physio-Control, Inc. Undergraduate Scholarship

Support for this scholarship is provided by Physio-Control, Inc. Physio-Control pioneered defibrillation technology over 50 years ago and is the world’s leading provider of external defibrillators for the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest.

 

Requirements: This scholarship is awarded to a registered nurse who is pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements
  • Applicants (with the exception of Pre-RN category applicants) must be current ENA members in good standing in order to apply for an ENA Foundation scholarship
  • Pre-RN category applicants are not required to be ENA members, but must submit a letter of reference from a current ENA member in good standing
  • A minimum 3.0 grade point average (GPA) is required for consideration
  • Applicants must be attending an NLN, AACN, or CCNE accredited school and must provide verification of the school’s current accreditation
  • Two letters of recommendation are required for each scholarship category. One letter must be from a current ENA member
  • With the exception of doctoral and Elizabeth B. Moore scholarship applicants, previous scholarship recipients are not eligible to reapply under the same category. However, qualified previous recipients may apply for the next category. Previous doctoral scholarship recipients are eligible to reapply in the doctoral category
  • ENA members having served in the immediate past three years on the ENA Board of Directors, ENA Foundation Board of Trustees, or ENA Foundation scholarship selection committee are ineligible to apply
  • The current members of the ENA Board of Directors, ENA Foundation Board of Trustees, ENA Foundation Scholarship Selection Committee, as well as individuals that have served in such positions in the immediate past three (3) years and the sposes and children* of all such individuals are ineligible to apply for a scholarship
    * For purposes of eligibility, "children" are defined as natural, legally adopted, stephchildren, or grandchildren
South Dakota ENA State Council – South Dakota State Challenge Scholarship

Funding for this scholarship is made possible by the generosity of the South Dakota ENA State Council and its members through contributions to the 2016 ENA Foundation State Fundraising Challenge campaign.

 

Requirements: This scholarship is awarded to an emergency nurse pursuing a master’s degree in nursing. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

Stryker Scholarship: Master’s in Healthcare or Related Field

Support for this scholarship is provided by Stryker. Stryker offers patient handling equipment and products for the emergency medical services industry, including general transport and specialty stretchers, transfer devices and furniture. Applicants for this scholarship can be pursuing one of the following (but are not limited to) degrees in business (MBA), public health (MPH), nurse education (N.Ed.) and Informatics.

Support for this scholarship is provided by Teleflex. Teleflex’s corporation's EZ-IO® Vascular Access System provides immediate vascular access for the delivery of essential medications and fluids using the intraosseous (inside the bone) space when traditional IVs are difficult. The EZ-IO® is recognized as the technology standard for intraosseous access with over 2 million needles sold worldwide.

Walden University Undergraduate Scholarship
Support for this scholarship is provided by Walden University. Walden University, an accredited institution, has been serving the higher education needs of adult learners for 45 years.

 

Requirements: This scholarship is awarded to a registered nurse who is pursuing a baccalaureate degree in nursing at any accredited institution. Applicants must meet all standard eligibility requirements.

Amount of Award: $2,500 each
