Rachael Smith, MSN, RN, CEN, CCRN, CPEN, CNE, TCRN, is in her first year as a member of the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.

Smith is an associate professor of nursing at Three Rivers Community College in Norwich, Connecticut, teaching senior level associate degree program nursing students. Smith also actively works stretcherside at Middlesex Health Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook, Connecticut. She has worked in a variety of clinical background including child/adolescent psych, medical stepdown and a Level I trauma ED. 

Smith has been actively involved in the ENA both at the state and national levels.  

Smith was a state delegate from 2016-20 and has held various positions, including education chair, secretary, government affairs co-chair and, ultimately, the Connecticut ENA State Council President in 2020. Nationally, Smith started on the Conference Education Planning Committee in 2018 and served as co-chair in 2021 to help lead the association’s second-ever fully virtual annual conference. 

Smith has presented at multiple conferences including the ENA’s annual conference, ENA Leadership Orientation and New England Regional Symposium. Smith was selected for the Class of 2022 of the ENA Connection 20 Under 40 program. 

Smith earned her bachelor’s degree from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, in 2011 and her master’s in nursing education from Sacred Heart University in 2014. She is board certified as a certified nurse educator, emergency nurse, critical care nurse, pediatric emergency nurse and trauma certified registered nurse.
