Lauren Plaine, BSN, RN, CEN, serves on the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) Board of Directors (non-voting) as the Emerging Professional Liaison. ENA is the specialty nursing association serving the emergency nursing profession through research, publications, professional development, and emphasis on quality and patient safety.
Plaine found her passion for emergency medicine while volunteering as an EMT in high school. She started as an ED technician while in nursing school and was hired as an ED nurse upon her graduation. Plaine completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Old Dominion University while working full-time. She received the Community Service Award in nursing school and continues to serve her community by volunteering in EMS with Isle of Wight Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Plaine is a travel nurse currently working at the University of North Carolina Medical Center Emergency Department. She has worked in multiple EDs in Virginia and New York.
Plaine joined ENA in 2015. Plaine instantly recognized the value of this organization and quickly sought more involvement. She was secretary for the Tidewater Chapter of Virginia and a General Assembly delegate in 2016.
In this new role, Plaine is eager to help the association engage young professionals.
