Karen K. Wiley, MSN, RN, CEN, is currently serving as secretary/treasurer of the Emergency Nurses Association board of directors, the specialty nursing association serving the emergency nursing profession through research, publications, professional development, and emphasis on quality and patient safety. Wiley's term ends in December 2015.
Wiley is a staff nurse at CHI Health Immanuel in Omaha, Nebraska. She has been an ENA member since 1997. At the national level, Wiley has been the Board Liaison too the following Committees: Psychiatric Care, Emergency Preparedness, Crowding, Wellness, IQSIP, Site Selection and Finance. She was the chairperson of the 2009-10 Emergency Department Violence Work Team. She has been active at the state and local level since 1999 serving on the Nebraska state council as secretary in 1999, president-elect in 2000 and 2009, and as president in 2001 and 2010. Wiley's strong commitment to advocacy is demonstrated by her service as chairperson of the Nebraska state council Government Affairs Committee for 10 years and successfully fought for 4 years, for the Nebraska felony law for assaulting a nurse. Recently she has been selected to be a member on the American Nurses Association Workplace Violence and Incivility Steering Committee.
Wiley received her nursing degree from the College of Saint Mary, Omaha, Nebraska. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Creighton University, Omaha, and her Master of Science degree in nursing from Nebraska Wesleyan University, Omaha. She is a certified emergency nurse.
Wiley is a member of the Nebraska Nurses Association, the American Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International.
