ENA members who attended the State Leaders Conference in Salt Lake City in February 2004 will be
familiar with the ENA-produced booklet entitled Bylines, Headlines & Deadlines: Surviving the News Media. Produced by the ENA Public Relations Office, the booklet provides tips on how to effectively work with the media to get your stories out. It highlights the differences between news and public relations, and identifies tools ENA members can use to reach the media, including news stories, media advisories, public service announcements, feature articles/columns, and letters to the editor. It also includes suggestions on how to prepare for an interview, whether it is for print, radio, or television. ENA members can download this brochure free-of-charge from the
ENA Web site at www.ena.org/media-pr. This is an excellent tool for state and chapter leaders.
