The voting window for the 2007 elections is Thursday, May 17, through Friday, June 15, 5 p.m. Central Time. You will receive an advance e-mail reminder and notification when you can cast your vote electronically. You’ll also receive reminders to cast your vote during the process. If you have no current e-mail address on your ENA member record, you will receive a paper ballot. We promise to get a ballot to you, but it’s up to you to put it to use. Please vote!

    ENA, AAEM and ACEP Oppose Recent Joint Commission Action on MM.4.10 EP 1
    ENA is working with the American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) to present a united opposition to the Joint Commission's April 6 rescission of its interim medication standards. The three organizations recognize that Standard MM.4.10 does little more than slow the delivery of care in EDs while providing no actual benefit to patients.     Opportunities for Remote Fellowships on Health Policy Priorities
    Have you been interested in health policy, but frustrated that you don’t live near your state capital or Washington, D.C.? ENA is offering an innovative way for faculty and students to integrate health policy into the student curriculum. ENA offers a limited number of remote fellowships each semester. The student works on health policy priorities identified by the ENA board of directors.     New Palliative Care Guidelines and Framework
    The National Quality Forum (NQF) recently released A National Framework for Palliative and Hospice Care Quality Measurement and Reporting. The NQF Framework will lead to palliative care standards with implications for reimbursement, internal and external quality measurement, regulation and accreditation.     ENA Nursing Officer Becomes ENA Research and Practice Consultant
    ENA’s nursing officer, Susan MacLean, RN, PhD, is transitioning to a new leadership role during 2007 to become the association’s first research and practice consultant. MacLean established ENA’s Research department in1994, and since then has facilitated 38 research and program grants. She also helped develop several new programs, such as the LUNAR studies, the Academy of Emergency Nursing and the Institute for Emergency Nursing Research.     2007 ENA Scientific Assembly Scholarship Applications—June 1 Deadline
    Applications are still being accepted for the 2007 ENA Scientific Assembly Exhibitors Scholarship. ENA and the Exhibitors Advisory Council will be awarding 15 scholarships to attend the 2007 ENA Scientific Assembly in Salt Lake City, Utah, September 26-29, 2007.Three-day registration plus expense money are included in this scholarship valued at $750.     ENA Foundation State Challenge—June 30 Deadline
    Each state council has been asked to raise a minimum $1 contribution per member. State councils raising $5,000 or more will have the opportunity to name a 2008 ENAF Scholarship. The top state councils in total and per capita contributions will each receive one complimentary registration to the 2007 ENA Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, September 2007.
