CECH Guidelines Revisions—Beginning January 1, 2007
Recently the ANCC revised their standards. To maintain consistency between the approval process outlined by ANCC and ENA, the changes were made to the CECH Guidelines, which are to be implemented beginning January 1, 2007.

The ENA Board of Directors approved the revision of the 7th edition of the CECH Guidelines. The revised guidelines will be applied to all programs seeking CECH approval for 2007. Any CECH applications received in 2006 for implementation in 2007 will need to comply with the revised Guidelines. ENA will contact the activity coordinators for these programs individually to obtain the additional information required. For the complete text on the 7th edition of the CECH Guidelines, go to www.ena.org/education/continuing/CECH/Guidelines-7.doc.

The ENA State Council Challenge Is Coming…Start the Movement!
The rules are simple, the goal is clear: increase financial support for the ENA Foundation Scholarship Program. Here’s how it works:
1) Each state council will try to raise a minimum of $1/per member in its state
2) State councils raising $5,000 or more will be able to name a 2007 ENAF scholarship
3) Contributions less than $5,000 will be "pooled." These dollars will create additional Advanced Practice scholarships.

This is a contest, awards will be given and details will be provided at the December State Leaders Orientation. The ENAF State Council Challenge will run from January 1, 2007, through June 30, 2007. Watch for more details in the December NewsBytes.

Gun Safety: It's NO Accident
In light of the recent school shootings, you can help prevent these tragedies by bringing the Gun Safety: It's NO Accident program to your community to educate parents, owners of stores where firearms are sold, and teenagers and kids about essential factors to consider in protecting loved ones from tragic gun-related injuries and fatalities. This program is designed to increase public awareness of firearm safety issues and reduce unnecessary, preventable firearm injuries and fatalities. It also includes personal stories about the tragedies of gun violence and explores conflict resolution techniques for adolescents. For more information about the program, visit ENA’s Web site at www.ena.org/ipinstitute/institute/guns/default.asp.
