GENE Now Available Online
The new online version of the Geriatric Emergency Nurse Education course, which launches September 1, 2006, provides 24/7 access, allowing more emergency nurses to enhance their knowledge and best practices related to this ever-growing, ever-complex population.   • Academy of Emergency Nursing (AEN) Induction Ceremony and Dinner
    All Conference attendees are invited to attend the AEN Induction Ceremony to be held Saturday, September 16, 9:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., at the Marriott River Center, Salon J. The dinner preceding the induction, both black-tie optional, will be held from 7:45 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. in Salon I. Dinner tickets are $54 and will be available until September 1.   • ENAF Jewelry Silent Auction
    The ENA State Council and Local Chapter Jewelry Silent Auction will be held September 14-15 in San Antonio. Be prepared to shop when you stop by the Silent Auction and view the beautiful jewelry pieces on display. Bid on stunning pieces of jewelry highlighting gemstones and designs native to the donors’ regional areas. Each piece is unique to the state from which it was donated. Proceeds will benefit the Emergency Nurses Association Foundation (ENAF) scholarship fund.
  • Special Interest Group (SIG), Networking Sessions and ASTNA Transport Nurses Safety Forum
    Join your colleagues for informative discussions on a variety of emergency care topics Thursday, September 14, from 12 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in River Level and Street Level rooms in the Convention Center. Special Interest Groups: ED Technology, Episodic Care Centers, Forensic Nursing, Retired Emergency Nurses, Telephone Triage, Travel Nursing and Uniformed Services. In addition, visit the Research and Practice desk in the Resource Center of the Exhibit Hall to learn how to join a SIG or form a new one.

Attendees will learn to teach the basic concepts of injury prevention and mentoring new injury prevention advocates. The $90 course will utilize national core competencies to provide the essential skills and knowledge necessary for preparing emergency nurses to be successful in the injury prevention field. Materials (injury prevention workbook and CD-ROM) will be provided. Call for 2007 Annual Conference Courses and Faculty
Course and faculty submissions are now being accepted for the 2007 ENA Annual Conference, September 27 - 29 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Areas of focus for the program are: clinical, advanced clinical, advanced practice, pharmacology, research, education, wellness, leadership and professional issues, and injury prevention. Share your creative solutions that address ENA's three clinical priorities (ED crowding, nursing shortage, and patient safety). Deadline for submissions: October 6, 2006.

Choices for Living Program
The dynamic CD program Choices for Living is available at the ENA Marketplace. This program is designed to empower teenagers with skills for making informed decisions and engaging in healthy behaviors related to safe driving. Coming Soon—Stand Strong for Life: A Falls Prevention Program
This program targets community-dwelling older adults who are at high risk for falls in and around their homes. The goal of this evidence-based program is to decrease the number of risk factors for falls in older adults’ surroundings and promote safe behavior/environment to ultimately reduce the number of falls and the severity of falls-related injuries. The program consists of two modules: 1) an educational module and PowerPoint® presentation for health care professionals and 2) an educational PowerPoint presentation and four brochures for community-dwelling older adults. Modules, presentations and brochures are included on a CD-ROM.

Nursing2006 Invites Nurses to Participate in Patient Safety Survey
Nursing2006, a leading professional nursing journal, is conducting its fifth annual clinical survey. The current survey is focused on Infection Control. We invite you to provide feedback on this critical health care issue.
