| Call for Proposed Bylaw Amendments and Resolutions-April 7, 2006 Submission Deadline

If you are interested in bringing a proposed bylaw amendment or resolution to the 2006 General Assembly, please visit the ENA Web site at www.ena.org/statecouncils/GeneralAssembly to obtain the Primer on Writing and Presenting Resolutions and Bylaw Changes. For assistance from the Resolutions Committee members with writing proposed bylaw amendments or resolutions, please contact Kari Zick, Resolutions Committee staff liaison, at kzick@ena.org, or call 800/900-9659 ext. 4092.

| Call for 2006 Award Nominees-May 5 Deadline

The Emergency Nurses Association is issuing a call for nominees for the 2006 ENA National Awards. This is the opportunity to give recognition to the innovators, leaders and those who continually go above and beyond the call of duty in the emergency nursing profession: your colleagues, mentors and friends. ENA’s Injury Prevention Institute/EN CARE is pleased to announce a call for nominees for the 2006 EN CARE Injury Prevention Awards. This is the opportunity to give recognition to those who continually contribute to the promotion of injury prevention in the community. The awards will be presented during the 2006 ENA Scientific Assembly in San Antonio, Texas, September 14-16, 2006. Nominations packets must be received by May 5, 2006. ENA will notify all nominees.

| Call for Editor-March 31 Application Deadline

| The Emergency Nurses Association (ENA) invites applications for editor of its flagship journal, the Journal of Emergency Nursing (JEN). JEN is the official publication of the 28,000-plus-member Emergency Nurses Association and the only academic journal dedicated exclusively to serving the complete scope of emergency nursing in the United States. Owned and copyrighted by ENA, the mission of the Journal is "to improve the care of emergency patients and promote the specialty of emergency nursing." Candidates for editor must be active members of ENA and should be prepared to accept the editorship in June 2006. | ENA Names Journal Interim Co-Editors
|
ENA is pleased to announce that members Anne Marie Lewis, RN, BSN, BA, MA, CEN, and Linda Scheetz, RN, EdD have been selected as interim co-editors of the Journal of Emergency Nursing (JEN). Lewis has been a section editor for case reviews since 1999 and clinical associate editor since 2002 for JEN. Lewis has been a legal consultant, lectured locally and nationally on various emergency nursing subjects, and has written articles that have appeared in JEN and other nursing publications.
Published in nursing and medical journals, Scheetz has written chapters for several books and is the co-editor of Emergency Nursing Secrets and the series editor of the Nursing Secrets series (Elsevier-Mosby). Her affiliation with JEN spans the last decade, during which she has contributed as a manuscript reviewer, editorial board member, consulting editor and assistant editor.

| Space Available for Clinical Site Visits-Leadership Challenge 2006
|
Clinical Site Visit 1 - Austin-Travis County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) which serves as the strategic command center during emergencies or events that require inter-agency coordination.
Clinical Site Visit 2 - The 6th WMD Civil Support Team is a 22-man all active duty National Guard unit with a 24/7x365 emergency response team. They respond to terrorist attacks involving weapons of mass destruction. They also respond to other disasters and catastrophic events, both natural and manmade.
Preregistration and a transportation fee of $20 are required.

Save the Date at Leadership Challenge 2006 in Austin, Texas-Saturday, February 25, 6 - 8:00 p.m. Join ENA Foundation for a private showing of Esther's Follies, touted as a new vaudeville. Since 1977, it has been performing topical satire, magic and musical-comedy parodies and fun, set against the backdrop of Austin's hysterical, historical entertainment district 6th Street. Pre-registration and fee of $55 are required, and seating is limited. Beverages only will be available. |

| "CALL TO PROTECT®"-Make a Difference-Bring Your Old Phones to Leadership Challenge

ENA would like to thank all members who donated unwanted cell phones to the CALL TO PROTECT program at the 2005 Annual Meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. This program, initiated through the Wireless Foundation, has provided thousands of reprogrammed phones to families who are experiencing domestic abuse. Most of us have an old cell phone stashed away in a drawer. Find that phone-and any related accessories-and donate them! Watch for the "Donate a Phone" posters located in Marketplace Express. | The Ninth Annual Saturn National Donor Day-Valentine’s Day ‘06
|
On and near February 14, 2006, participating Saturn retailers will host the ninth annual Saturn National Donor Day with hundreds of community donor drives aimed at raising awareness and encouraging blood, marrow, organ and tissue donations. Saturn Corporation, its United Auto Worker (UAW) partners and many of America’s leading non-profit health organizations will join together in this nationwide effort to save lives.
Saturn is encouraging people to incorporate donation into their Valentine’s Day celebration. At participating retailers on and near February 14, consumers can donate blood or pledge to donate blood, be added to the National Marrow Donor Program Registry, and/or learn how to become an organ and tissue donor.
Procedures for becoming a donor vary from state to state, visit www.donatelife.net to see how to become a donor in your state. In many states an online registry is available for you to declare your intentions. www.donatelife.net is operated by the Coalition on Donation, a Saturn National Donor Day partner.
