Call for Additional 2008 ENA National Work Team Members—Deadline May 31, 2008
ENA has five openings on the Clinical Nurse Specialists in Emergency Care Settings Work Team and invites ENA members to submit their applications online between April 10 and May 31, 2008.
The ENA Research and Practice Department is seeking five clinical nurse specialists in emergency nursing to begin the work needed to review and identify potential core competencies for clinical nurse specialists practicing in the emergency care setting. The Clinical Nurse Specialist Committee will review current literature and consult with other national organizations to identify an initial list of potential core competencies. The committee will design and develop a Delphi study with key stakeholders on CNS core competencies in the ED. Following identification of these competencies, the committee will develop the Scope and Standards of Practice for the CNS practicing in the emergency care setting.
Criteria: Must be an emergency nurse with current experience as a clinical nurse specialist in at least one of the following arenas:
- An ENA CNS member who functions primarily in a clinical role
- An ENA CNS member who functions primarily in a researcher role
- An ENA CNS member who functions primarily in an educator role
- An ENA CNS member who focuses primarily on trauma
- A relatively new CNS (i.e., two to three years’ experience)
Skill at conducting literature searches and excellent professional writing and communication skills are desired. One conference call in 2008 and two meetings at ENA national headquarters and two conference calls in 2009 are anticipated.
NOTE: Applications for this committee and work team membership may only be made online at www.ena.org/CommApp/CNS-CriteriaLanding.asp between April 10 and May 31, 2008. ENA relies on its members to shape the direction of our association. Your contributions are invaluable, and we thank you for all your support!
