ANA Board of Directors Approves Endorsement of the ENA Procedural Sedation Consensus Statement
The American Nurses Association (ANA) board of directors approved endorsement of the ENA Procedural Sedation Consensus Statement.
The new comprehensive Procedural Sedation Consensus Statement on the use of procedural sedation in the emergency department (ED) setting was drafted to articulate the critical need for, and appropriateness of, ED nurses using procedural sedation to give patients quality of care consistent with the Six Quality Aims as defined by the Institute of Medicine (IOM).
ANA joins the following organizations that have endorsed and signed the ENA Procedural Sedation Consensus Statement:
Emergency Nurses Association
Air & Surface Transport Nurses Association
American Academy of Emergency Medicine
American Association of Critical Care Nurses
American College of Emergency Physicians
American Radiological Nurses Association
American Society for Pain Management Nursing
National Association of Children's Hospitals
And related Institutions.
