ENA Foundation State Challenge Update
Deadline Fast Approaching - Only One Month Remains!

To help states participate in the ENA Foundation State Challenge, ENA Foundation staff has put together the following Q & A. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact the foundation at (847) 460-4100 or via e-mail at foundation@ena.org

Where does the money go?

The ENA Foundation (ENAF) was established in 1991 by the Emergency Nurses Association. Strengthening the association’s commitment to excellence in emergency nursing care, the mission of the ENA Foundation is to enhance emergency health care services through the promotion and support of research and education in emergency care.

Your ENA Foundation awards co-sponsored research grants, continuing education course scholarships and academic educational scholarships in emergency nursing for undergraduate, advanced practice and doctoral levels of study. Each year, the ENAF continues to receive more and more applications for scholarships and research. This year, thanks to the generous support of donors in 2007, the ENA Foundation plans to offer 35 educational scholarships for 2008, two research grants and 38 continuing education course scholarships for a total of $200,000 in grants and scholarships.

How are the funds raised?

ENA members are the foundation’s primary donors. Annually, the ENA Foundation hosts multiple outreach events, conducts fundraising campaigns and works with industry leaders to obtain the support required to meet its goals.

You can be involved and help support your foundation’s achievement by participating in the annual ENAF State Challenge. The rules are simple; the goal is clear, to increase financial support for the ENA Foundation to establish additional research grants and educational scholarships for emergency nurses.

What is the State Challenge?

All State councils have been encouraged to join the 2008 ENAF State Challenge and asked to raise a minimum of $1 per member.

What is the State’s Reward for participating?

The greatest reward is knowing that you and your State Council have participated in raising funds to support your fellow nurse’s pursuit of higher education in the field of nursing. Secondary rewards are as follows …

  • The top State Councils in total contributions will each receive one complimentary registration to the 2008 ENA Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
  • The top State Council raising the most funds per capita will receive one complimentary registration to the 2008 ENA Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
  • State Councils raising $5,000 or more will have the opportunity to name a 2009 ENAF Scholarship.
