EN CARE is the injury prevention institute of the Emergency Nurses Association. With more than 27,000 members worldwide, ENA is the foremost emergency nursing association in the world. EN CARE and ENA are committed to reducing the number of preventable injuries through public education, professional training courses and legislative advocacy.

 

WHAT IS THE INJURY PREVENTION INSTITUTE?
As a leader in the field of injury prevention, the Injury Prevention (IP) Institute provides professional training and develops up-to-date programs and resource materials to educate the young, the adult, and the mature adult communities. More than 5,000 emergency nurses, EMTs, and law enforcement officers have been trained to teach our injury prevention programs in their local communities across the nation and the world.

    HOW DO I GET STARTED?
    You can start by selection one of both of the following options:
    . Purchase any IP Institute/EN CARE community-based program (e.g., Choices for Living, Gun Safety).
    . Complete the optional eight-hour training to be recognized as an ENA Injury Prevention Provider.

    ENA has approved this program for continuing education contact hours CECH.

    The creation of the IP Institute provider training was guided by the core competencies for injury and violence prevention from the SAVIR-STIPDA Joint Committee on Infrastructure Development. The training includes information on basic injury prevention and safety; access and utilization of data; design implementation, and evaluation of programs;community outreach advocacy and policy. It also includes an introduction to the injury prevention programs offered through the Institute. IP Institute programs are presented to more than 300,000 people a year. The more people we reach, the more injuries and deaths we can prevent.
