Relevant Text: 

A registered nurse shall use as professional identification appropriate letters or a title after that person's name that represents the person's specific field of practice. The letters or title shall appear on all signs, stationery, or other advertising in which the person offers or displays personal professional services to the public. (b) A person subject to (a) of this section who fails to comply with the requirements of (a) of this section shall be given notice of noncompliance by that person's appropriate licensing board or, if the person is not regulated by a board, by the department. If, after a reasonable time, with opportunity for a hearing, the person's noncompliance continues, the board or department, as appropriate, may suspend or revoke the person's license or registration, or administer other disciplinary action which in its determination is appropriate.

a person engaged in any manner in the healing arts who diagnoses, treats, tests, or counsels other persons in relation to human health or disease and uses the letters "M.D." or the title "doctor" or "physician" or another title that tends to show that the person is willing or qualified to diagnose, treat, test, or counsel another person, shall clarify the letters or title by adding the appropriate specialist designation, if any, such as "dermatologist", "radiologist", "audiologist", "naturopath", or the like. (b) A person subject to (a) of this section who fails to comply with the requirements of (a) of this section shall be given notice of noncompliance by that person's appropriate licensing board or, if the person is not regulated by a board, by the department. If, after a reasonable time, with opportunity for a hearing, the person's noncompliance continues, the board or department, as appropriate, may suspend or revoke the person's license or registration, or administer other disciplinary action which in its determination is appropriate.

Relevant Text: 

A defendant convicted of assault in the fourth degree or harassment in the first degree who knowingly directed the conduct constituting the offense at an emergency responder or medical professional who was engaged in the performance of official duties at the time of the assault or harassment shall be sentenced to a minimum term of imprisonment of (A) 60 days if the defendant violated AS 11.41.230
(a)(1) or (2) or AS 11.61.118; (B) 30 days if the defendant violated AS 11.41.230
(a)(3);
(1) execution of sentence may not be suspended and probation or parole may not be granted until the minimum term of imprisonment has been served;
(2) imposition of a sentence may not be suspended except upon condition that the defendant be imprisoned for no less than the minimum term of imprisonment provided in the section; and
(3) the minimum term of imprisonment may not otherwise be reduced.

The Alaska Board of Nursing finds that it is within scope of practice for Registered Nurses to administer sedating agents in the acute care setting (emergency department) for minimal sedation (anxiolysis)... The Alaska Board of Nursing finds that it is within the role and scope of practice for Registered Nurses to administer sedating and anesthetic agents to produce moderate procedural sedation for the non-intubated or intubated/ventilated patient, under the direction of a Licensed Independent Practitioner, in the acute care setting (emergency department), in accordance with the guidelines in this advisory opinion. In addition, there are other special circumstances under which administration of anesthetic or sedating agents are within the scope of practice of Registered Nurses, exclusively in the acute care setting.
