Government and Advocacy

ENA's government relations programs are designed to:

  • Advocate quality patient care, injury prevention, and wellness preparedness
  • Represent the interests and concerns of emergency care nursing professionals.
  • Facilitate broad member participation.
  • Provide a strong unified voice for emergency nursing through legislative and regulatory representation.

Advocacy is more than just understanding the issues. To make a difference, you have to make your voice heard. The involvement of individual emergency nurses is vital to the success of our grassroots efforts. We encourage all ENA members to use the information provided here and on the ENA Legislative Action Center site to take an active role in addressing the issues facing emergency nursing. For further information on ENA's government relations activities and positions, contact enagov@aol.com.

E-Mail Alerts
New features have been added to ENA's ENA Legislative Action Center that allow us to focus our "E-Mail Alerts" directly to those ENA members who reside in the state or district of the congressional members that we need to target. These Alerts provide strategic information to affect key policy issues of interest to ENA and emergency nursing. To receiving ENA's E-Mail Alerts, you must sign up on the homepage of the ENA Legislative Action Center.

  • Focus and establish the priorities of issues to be addressed by ENA.
  • Inform members, colleague organizations, government officials, and the media about ENA's public policy concerns.
  • Provide a continuing framework for ENA to review and report on actions that address current and past policy concerns.
