The 2008 ENA Foundation State Challenge

The rules were simple; the goal was clear … to increase financial support for the ENA Foundation, enabling the Foundation to establish additional research grants and educational scholarships for emergency nurses. Annually, the Foundation invites all state councils, chapters and individuals to join the 2008 State Challenge, a grass roots fundraising campaign. This year’s campaign ran from March 1st through June 30th.
In 2007, the inaugural year of the State Challenge, 22 states participated raising $39,822 - a fantastic beginning. This year the State Challenge goal was set to raise $48,525 and increase the number of participating states. To assist in increasing the funds for this year’s State Challenge, each state representative in attendance at the ENA State Council Orientation, held in December 2007 was give a piggybank. Those piggybanks were filled over and over again. The RESULTS are outstanding.
34 states participated raising $64,126.98!
A new milestone record has been reached for the State Challenge, raising 132% of the stated goal. The ENA Foundation Board of Trustees thanks all the State Council members who embraced the challenge and supported the 2008 campaign.
The Winners
- We are pleased to announce that the New Jersey State Council has won the challenge for highest dollar amount raised, $12,200 and will receive one free registration to the 2008 ENA Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Congratulations to New Jersey.
- We are also pleased to announce that the Minnesota State Council won the per capita challenge with $11.78 per member, they will received a free registration to the 2008 ENA Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Congratulations to Minnesota.
2009 Scholarship Naming Opportunities
Congratulations to the four states that each raised over $5,000. These state councils will have the added benefit of naming a 2009 scholarship, after a deserving member or in memory of a member who has passed. Those states are …. California, Illinois, Minnesota and New Jersey.
