CNE Application Approval Process

Ensuring independence when planning, implementing and evaluating continuing nursing education activities
ANCC Accreditation criteria require that providers plan, implement and evaluate quality continuing nursing education activities with integrity, free from the undue influence of commercial interest organizations. A provider may be defined as an Individual Activity Applicant.

A review of the ANCC Content Integrity Standards for Industry Support in Continuing Nursing Educational Activities is recommended.

Notice to Nurse Planners:

Nurse Planners should always download new forms during the planning stage. Forms should not be saved from previous submissions, as progressive changes will take place as expected with the science of continuing education.* Preparation is essential in planning an educational event for nursing contact hours.

*Note: The ANCC Commission on Accreditation has approved criteria and streamlined requirements for providers and approvers. The Emergency Nurses Association has implemented these changes effective December 21, 2015. In the event you are currently working on a program with the previous forms, a grace period will be present for all applicants through March 1, 2016. After this date, outdated/previous forms will not be accepted by the ENA Approver Unit.

New CNE Application samples will be forthcoming to reflect the recent changes in criteria.
