October 2011 Forty Fifth Edition
|WEBINAR DEMONSTRATION AVAILABLE|
|The features of Phase I of the upcoming eCourseOps course management system were previewed by Annual Conference attendees in Tampa. A webinar has been created to provide you with a preview of how this new system will look, and some of the main features it will provide. This webinar can be accessed in the Course Directors Only section of the ENA web site. Remember that the data you see is from our test system, so it does not reflect real data. Please feel free to play this webinar for your fellow course directors and instructors. More information will be coming as we move closer to our anticipated “go live” date for Phase I. Special thanks goes out to the Course Director Focus Group, who has been working closely with us, to meet your course management needs.
ENPC DOCUMENT ADDRESSES AHA TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS
The ENPC Work Team, along with the ENPC Education staff, has produced a document to help our ENPC instructors and course directors address the current AHA treatment recommendations (along with some additional current recommendations). This outlines the necessary changes in the current version of the ENPC provider course, until the new version becomes available. All AHA guidelines are included in this document to ensure complete coverage of the material. The items that the document does not address are more specific to the pre-hospital and inpatient areas that ENPC was never intended to cover. There is still much more in the ENPC course that addresses all aspects of pediatric emergency care, not just those pieces having to do with resuscitation.
This document was reviewed by a group of dedicated course directors following a lively discussion in the ENPC/TNCC networking session at ENA Annual Conference in September. We appreciate all of the participation and feedback. The ENPC Work Team continues to move forward on the completion of the provider manual and is diligently finalizing the lecture material with presentation notes. The team will then produce a web-based presentation including changes in the new course, presentations of new lectures, and information regarding new skills stations. Once this material is complete, the team will begin validation of the test questions for finalization of the ENPC exams. Within the next few months, many of you will be contacted for your input and assistance with test validation.
You will find this document on the ENPC page of the ENA web site, directly under the Administrative Procedures:
INSTRUCTOR QUALITY ASSURANCE REPORTS
Course Operations currently sends to the State Chairs, twice a year, a copy of the Instructor Quality Assurance reports for Instructors that have scores of less than 3.0. We will also send the State Chairs the reports for their entire instructor pool, regardless of the score, at their request.
These reports are currently being processed and will be emailed to the State Chairs by October 21, 2011. If no Instructors within your state have a score of less than 3.0, an email will still be sent to the State Chair advising them that all of their instructors are currently at 3.0 or higher. For those states that do not have a State Chair listed in our database, the information will be sent to the State President.
We will also be happy to email an individual instructor’s report directly to that instructor upon request. You can reach Course Operations at either 1-800-942-0011 or firstname.lastname@example.org to make that request.
Your Input is Welcome
Topic ideas for future issues and feedback are welcome at CourseBytes@ena.org. If you know of any Instructor or Course Director who should be receiving this email but is not, please ask them to email us at CourseBytes@ena.org with their name, current home address and home and work email addresses.
