A Kid Friendly Approach to
Pediatric Dehydration |
| Date / Time: |
Friday, October 9, 2009, 6:00am –
7:30am |
| Location: |
Hilton Baltimore, Key Ballroom
7-9-10 |
| Credit: |
1.0 CECH |
| Course Description: |
Achieving intravenous (IV) access
in pediatric patients can be problematic and
time-consuming, particularly in infants and
young children who are agitated or present
with difficult venous access. Subcutaneous
(SC) hydration, augmented with a spreading
agent such as hyaluronidase, is an
alternative to IV therapy. Therefore, it is
important that nurses, especially those who
routinely deal with pediatric dehydration,
receive education about the current evidence
for managing pediatric dehydration, as well
as the value of enzyme augmentation as a
potential benefit to patients in whom it is
difficult or impractical to establish an IV
line. |

Designing an ED in Tough Economic Times:
Efficient & Effective Planning |
| Date / Time: |
Friday, October 9, 2009, 6:00am –
7:30am |
| Location: |
Hilton Baltimore, Key Ballroom
8-11-12 |
| Course Description: |
ED’s around the country
continue to age and many haven’t been
upgraded or expanded since the late 1980’s.
Now is the time to plan for
constructing an efficient and effective
emergency department. By
careful planning now, your organization may
be able to take advantage of the decreased
costs of construction materials and labor.
This presentation will position the
participants to understand how to identify
and develop efficient design components for
a renovated or expanded ED project.
By knowing how to match efficient
operations with an efficient design, then no
money will be wasted in developing an
appropriate “ED of the Future.”
