Frequently Asked Questions
TNCC/ENPC/CATN
Q. No one ever tells me anything. How can I be in the know?
A. Sign up for CourseBytes! CourseBytes is a blast e-newsletter, produced by Education, Course Operations and Finance, to provide timely course information. Recent editions have covered changes in administrative procedures and updates on the ENPC revision process. This newsletter is sent periodically to State leaders, Course Directors and Instructors. It is also archived and available on ENA’s Website www.ena.org. To subscribe, send your e-mail address to CourseBytes@ena.org.
Q. Where do I find the most current application form?
A. To locate the most current course application form, go to the TNCC, ENPC, or CATN-II page on the ENA website, www.ena.org. Under Course Schedules you will find the most recent application form. The revision date on the form is 8/18/04.
Q. How can I find a course?
A A list of approved courses is provided on the ENA Website, www.ena.org . Click on TNCC, ENPC or CATN-II and then either U.S. courses or International and Military courses. For U.S. courses you will be directed to a map where you can click on the desired state; scroll down to see a listing of courses sorted by course type, then by month. For International and military courses you will have immediate access to a listing of courses sorted by course type, then by month, which you can scroll through.. The course applications that national ENA has approved will be listed with contact information. The list is updated weekly. Note that you will also find the State President and State Chapter contact information here.
Q. Who are my State Chairpersons?
A. To locate your State Chairpersons, go to the State Councils and Chapters page. Select Committee Chair Contacts, and then select either ENPC or TNCC State Chair Listing. A list of all the states and the related State Chairpersons are located there. If there is no State Chairperson listed for your state, contact your State President. (To locate your State President, see the above question ‘How can I find a course’.)
Q. How do I order manuals? Where is my order? My order was incomplete. Now what?
A To order manuals or to check on an existing order, contact Course Operations, phone (800) 900-9659, extension 4120, email courseops@ena.org or FAX (847) 460-6010. We encourage, suggest and recommend that you open your shipments as soon as you receive them. If you wait until the day before the course, it is much more difficult to us to assure that you have the appropriate course manuals and materials.
Our experience is that our customers are served better and more accurately if they deal directly with Course Operations.
Q. How do I know if an instructor is current?
A. At this time, you must contact Course Operations to get that information. In the future, we hope to be able to provide it on ENA’s Website. To contact Course Operations, phone (800) 900-9659, extension 4120, email courseops@ena.org or FAX (847) 460-6010.
Q. Where do I return course materials and/or send payments?
A. All Course paperwork and credit card payments via Visa, MasterCard, Discover or American Express should be sent directly to ENA at:
ENA Course Operations
915 Lee Street
Des Plaines, IL 60016
Payments via check or money order should be sent directly to ENA’s bank. The address is:
Emergency Nurses Association
P.O. Box 1276
Bedford Park, IL 60499-1276
Some payments are still being sent to the old Eagle Way address. As of September 15, 2004, the Eagle Way address is no longer valid. Mail sent to that address will NOT be received by ENA.
Q. I lost my card - how do I get a new one? I never received my card - how do I get one? I am an instructor - what is my instructor number?
A. To get a new or replacement card or instructor number, contact Course Operations, phone (800) 900-9659, extension 4120, email courseops@ena.org or FAX (847) 460-6010. There is no charge for this service.
Q. What do I do now that my TNCC provider card is expiring (has expired)?
A. Revision of the Trauma Nursing Core Course is under way. When the revision nears completion, information about the rollout and reverification process will be provided in both CourseBytes and Connection.
In the meantime, if you wish to renew your provider number for another 4 years, you have several options:
Your number has not yet expired
You have three choices that apply before your number expires: (1) You may retake the 16-hour provider course; (2) You may challenge the provider course; or (3) You may take the 8-hour reverification course.
Your number has already expired
You have two choices: (1) You may retake the 16-hour provider course or (2) You may challenge the provider course.
Q. Do I have to notify anyone when the expected number of attendees for my course is decreased?
A. You no longer have to notify Course Operations when the expected number of attendees for your course decreases. This is due to the elimination of the ‘No Show’ fee, effective July 1, 2005.
Q. How do I get a billing issue resolved?
A. For questions related to billing or payment issues, contact Evelyn Garcia in ENA’s Finance Department at (800) 900-9659, extension 4030, or egarcia@ena.org or FAX (847) 460-4005.
Q. How do I get a copy of an invoice or a receipt?
A. Contact Evelyn Garcia in ENA’s Finance Department at (800) 900-9659, extension 4030, or egarcia@ena.org or FAX (847) 460-4005 or Wedad Mahsan in ENA’s Finance Department at (800) 900-9659, extension 4111, or wmahsan@ena.org or FAX (847) 460-4005.
Q. How are state assessments calculated?
A. State Councils receive $20 per participant for each TNCC/ENPC provider course 'closed’ during the quarter. ‘Closed’ means all manual and indirect fees have been paid, all course materials have been returned and there are no outstanding credits. Outstanding credits result from overpayments - these credits must be refunded or applied to another course before an assessment can be paid.
