COURSE APPLICATIONS ON THE WEB NOW IN WORD FORMAT

Course Operations is happy to announce that the TNCC and ENPC course applications on the ENA Web site are now in WORD format. They are located on the TNCC and ENPC pages (www.ena.org/catn_enpc_tncc). Please save a copy to your computer so that you can type in your course information rather than having to handwrite it! We are sure you will find this to be much more efficient. This will also help us eliminate mistakes which result from trying to decipher different handwriting styles. This does enable you to email your applications to CourseBytes@ena.org if you prefer that to the mail or fax.

TNCC ROLLOUT UPDATE

A heartfelt thank you to all State Councils State Presidents and Trauma Chairpersons! We had a very challenging deadline within which to register the 250 instructors who will attend the upcoming national TNCC rollout sessions beginning in May. You helped us reach our goal – we filled the slots and almost in every case, we were able to give attendees their first choice of session dates.

Registration confirmations are being accepted through March 26. We expect to process the grants to State Councils during the week of March 26. All states for which confirmations are complete will receive $600 per attendee via direct deposit. A copy of the disbursement along with a list of the state attendees will be sent to the State President and to the Treasurer per standing operating procedures and will also be sent to the State Trauma Chairpersons.

PALS RENEWAL OPTION NO LONGER AVAILABLE WITH ENPC

The American Heart Association (AHA) recently released its updated Pediatric Advance Life Support (PALS) course. The ENPC Revision Workgroup, several of whom are PALS instructors, has reviewed the changes to the new PALS course. Substantial changes have been made to PALS which the ENPC Revision Workgroup agreed would be impossible to incorporate without major revision to the current ENPC. For example, the course topics that must now be included are: BLS skills, rhythm recognition, basic pharmacology, practical application of clinical scenarios, and the concept of resuscitation teams. In addition, participants will be tested on the Child 1 Rescuer CPR/AED, Infant 1 and 2 Rescuer CPR, and will participate in two core case testing scenarios that include being a team leader during resuscitation and the other involving a cardiac, respiratory or shock scenario.

Therefore the option of PALS Renewal with ENPC has been eliminated. This change was communicated via email to all ENPC Course Directors and Instructors in late February, with a copy of the memo posted on the ENPC page of the ENA Web site.
