Survey – Recommendations for Changes in Administrative Procedures
Thank you to all the State Trauma and Pediatric Chairpersons who responded to the recent survey by the Course Administration Faculty. They are extremely pleased to report a 50% response rate, which is far greater than they had even hoped. They especially appreciated that many of you took the time to provide extensive comments.
The Faculty will be meeting in January to consider the feedback you provided as they finalize the revised Procedures.
State Chair Conference Calls
Our first conference call with State Trauma and Pediatric Chairpersons was held Monday November 6th. Approximately 15 State Chairpersons participated in the call along with national office staff members and Rebecca Steinman, Chairperson of the Course Administration Faculty.
Among the topics discussed were: the charges of the Course Administration Faculty; a progress update on the TNCC Workgroup; the ENA Web site; and the State Grant program. In addition, new CECH requirements were discussed. The new calculations for CECH hours will go into effect January 1, 2007. A complete breakdown of the new CECH calculations for TNCC/ENPC courses are on the Web site at www.ena.org. To locate them, place your cursor on the Education and Conferences bar on the left hand side of the home page, and a menu will appear. Click on ‘CECH and Continuing Education’, and then click on CECH Guidelines & Application. On this page you will find the current edition, the new 2007 edition, as well as a summary of the new changes made for 2007. The next edition of Coursebytes will also highlight the changes made.
To listen to the tape of the November 6th call, go to www.ena.org , and place your cursor on the CATN II/TNCC/ENPC bar on the left hand side of the home page. A new menu appears, and the bottom choice is now ‘State Chair Conference Calls’. Click on that choice and this is where you will find the recording of the call and our future calls.
We plan to hold these conference calls quarterly and look forward to increased participation. If you have any suggestions or feedback on the value or format of the calls please contact Maureen Howard, Course Operations Manager, at mhoward@ena.org .
Course Schedules on the ENA Web site
A new, quicker way to find course schedules has been added to the ENA Web site. When you go to www.ena.org and place your cursor on the CATN II/TNCC/ENPC bar on the left hand side of the page, a menu appears, and the first choice is now ‘Course Schedules by State’. When you click on this it takes you straight to the page with the map of the U.S. and when you click on your state you will find the list of upcoming courses.
Complete and Timely Post-Course Materials
Course Operations needs your assistance. Please help us provide better customer service. We want to update instructor and provider records on a timely basis. You can help by submitting complete post-course materials within 30 days of the end of the course. Please send original scantrons whenever possible as we cannot process photocopies. When photocopies are received, we have to manually recreate originals.
Also, please remember that we need original scantrons for all CATN II courses as well.
We really appreciate the numerous Course Directors that do send in complete materials on a timely basis.
Your Input is Welcome
Topic ideas for future issues and feedback are welcome at CourseBytes@ena.org. If you know of anyone who should be receiving this email but is not, please ask them to email us at CourseBytes@ena.org with their name, current home address and home and work email addresses.
