Denise King, RN, MSN, CEN
2008 President

Denise King, RN, MSN, CEN, is currently serving as the president of the Emergency Nurses Association (ENA), the specialty nursing association serving the emergency nursing profession through research, publications, professional development, and injury prevention. King’s term ends in December 2008.
King has been a registered nurse for 23 years and has held a variety of staff nurse, ED Manager and Director positions. She is currently working with Blue Jay Consulting as a senior consultant providing interim leadership, management and operational effectiveness expertise to Emergency Departments. In addition she is a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserves Nurse Corps.
A member of ENA for more than 19 years she has held several positions at the local and state level of ENA. King is a member of the Inland Empire chapter and is a past president of the California ENA State Council.
King is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, the honor society of nursing, the American Organization of Nurse Executives and the National Nurse Staff Development Organization.
She received her Associate of Science in nursing in 1984 from Riverside Community College in Riverside, CA. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing in 1994 and her Master of Science, Nursing Administration in 2000, both from California State University in Dominguez Hills. She is certified in emergency nursing by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®), and is also a provider for ENA’s Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) and ENA’s Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
