Personal Statement - Why I Want to Serve and What I Would Like to Contribute While Serving as a Member at Large
I do not want my acceptance as a Fellow in the Academy to be nothing more than letters after my name. I would like to see this first Board set the stage for the future of this group of nurses and advance the goals of the Emergency Nurses Association.

Position Statement - Personal Perspectives and Strategies on How the Academy of Emergency Nursing Can Help Advance the Profession of Emergency Nursing
I believe the Academy will be an influential group who will be able to advance the goals of the Emergency Nurses Association and the profession of emergency nursing. In order to do this, the Board and the entire membership will have to assume a leadership role in several areas including research, public policy, education, and clinical practice. The Board will be able to assist ENA in the development of priorities for research and education. This group also needs to be active in the political arena and supportive of the legislative agenda of the organization.

As a Board member, I bring strong organizational skills that will be helpful in further developing Academy policies and procedures as well as selection criteria and procedures related to potential candidates. I believe that mentoring potential candidates is an important responsibility of the Board and entire Academy and I look forward to working with those emergency nurses who aspire to become Fellows in the future. To be successful, it is necessary that we broaden our membership and our diversity.

I see one of the roles of the Academy as one of assisting the ENA Board in establishing goals and direction for the organization. The members of the Academy Board should be able to advocate for and promote the profession of emergency nursing. It is essential that this group establish itself as a collaborative body with effective networking skills, not just within nursing, but with other healthcare bodies as well.

This first group of Fellows is a diverse body with varied backgrounds and experiences. Through effective collaboration, we will be able to bring additional strength to the Emergency Nurses Association and elevate the profession of emergency nursing.
