Heidi Gilbert MSN, RN, CEN, SANE-A, TCRN, is in her first year as a member of the Emergency Nurses Association Board of Directors.

Gilbert began her nursing career as an LPN in 1997. She graduated with an associate’s degree in nursing from Eastern Oklahoma State College in 2003; earned her bachelor’s degree from East Central University, Oklahoma, in 2013; and obtained her master’s in nursing education from Western Governors University in 2020.

The bulk of her career has been in the emergency department, but she has also worked in med-surg, ICU and flight. She currently serves as the Emergency Department Clinical Educator and SANE Program Coordinator for Stillwater Medical Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Gilbert has a passion for emergency nursing, rural health care and education. Following the untimely death of her sister in 2013, Gilbert has become a fierce advocate for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She enthusiastically presents on these topics to health care professionals and law enforcement across the country. In 2019, she received the March of Dimes Oklahoma Nurse Educator of the Year award. She serves on several domestic violence, sexual assault and rural trauma advisory boards in Oklahoma.

 

Gilbert has been an ENA member since 2014. She served as Oklahoma ENA Secretary and Education Chair and is currently the government affairs and media chairs for the Oklahoma ENA State Council. Her contributions also include serving as member and chair of ENA’s Trauma Committee from 2015-18 and as member and co-chair of the Conference Education Planning Committee from 2020-23.

 

She is a TNCC Course Director and ENPC Instructor and has worked with the ENA education team to create and revise several online courses and practice resources.
