Statement to the Membership I have had the pleasure of serving my profession and communities as an emergency nurse for 18 years. During those years, I have learned from some of the best and brightest nurses in our profession who helped to mold me and make me a better professional nurse. As the associate chief nursing officer of my facility, I have the opportunity to work with all the nursing departments and continue to be a part of emergency nursing by working with my facility’s emergency department on a daily basis and continue to grow and learn. I feel honored to be a candidate for the ENA board of directors and feel my accomplishments are due in part to all I have learned throughout the years from other professional nurses. I realized several years ago that it was my duty to be a part of my professional organization and expand my expertise in emergency nursing by becoming a certified emergency nurse (CEN) and joining ENA. Since then I have worked to be a part of the solution for emergency nursing by serving as a delegate for my state and by serving on ENA work groups and reviewing abstracts for conferences. I have enjoyed my work with ENA and it is my desire to continue to serve the profession of nursing through excellence in leadership on the ENA board of directors. Back to top

Position Statement and Response The emergency nursing community continues to change with technology advances. How do you feel ENA should move forward in keeping up with social media (e.g., blogs, Facebook, etc.)? As nurses, membership in our professional organization is key to ownership of professional nursing practice. As a leader in ENA, I will support and advocate for education of professional nursing practice in emergency nursing. ENA serves as the strategic organizing body of emergency nursing and it is my goal that we spread the knowledge of professional nursing practice through membership and ultimately expertise in the delivery of emergency nursing care.
