Position Statement
What leadership attribute is essential to enhance the image and effectiveness of ENA?

Creativity. As the face of healthcare changes over these next several years, our profession and our specialty will have to change with it. ENA should help its members to find new creative ways to do more with less. We need to continue to provide high quality emergency nursing care and outstanding service while dealing with ever increasing demands from the government, the insurance industry and the public, all while facing decreased profit margins.

Statement to Membership
ENA has always been a very strong influence in my professional life. I joined ENA even before I became an Emergency Nurse because I recognized the important role professional organizations take in education, policy, and validation. As members, we rely on our ENA leadership to move our organization in the right direction, and to be participants and leaders in our national healthcare debate. As a member of the Nominations Committee, it is my goal to seek out the true leaders in our organization and encourage them to run for national office.

During my time on the Nominations Committee, we have revised policies, procedures, and ByLaws which have improved the nominations and election process. Although we still have a long way to go, we did see an increase in voting during 2012. The Nominations Committee works for members of ENA. I would be honored to serve another two years on the Nominations Committee representing Region 2.
