Position Statement What leadership attribute is essential to enhance the image and effectiveness of ENA? The leadership attribute essential to enhance the image and effectiveness of ENA is the ability to create team alignment. Leaders’ actions toward aligning teams allows for rapid and precise incorporation of best practices throughout an organization. By aligning individual behaviors towards organizational goals, I have succeeded in connecting nurses’ passion with purpose to create consistent outcomes. Aligned teams have systems and processes in place to hold people accountable for superior execution. As a transformational leader, I have been able to motivate, stimulate, engage and encourage followers to promote optimal organizational performance. Creating team alignment requires communicating with impact, answering the tough questions, facilitating change and motivating others towards a common goal. Back to top | Statement to Membership My name is Ryan Oglesby and I would appreciate the opportunity to represent Region Six on the Nominations Committee. I have been an Emergency Nurse since 1999 and an active ENA member for over 10 years. During my junior year of high school while volunteering for a local emergency department in High Point, North Carolina, I was enamored with the idea of becoming an Emergency Nurse and quickly attended my first ENA meeting. I completed my undergraduate degree six years later and went on to obtain my MSN, MHA and ultimately my PhD in Nursing. I have been active in ENA at all levels serving as North Carolina Eastern Piedmont Chapter President in 2008 and North Carolina State Council President and Secretary in 2011 and 2009 respectively. I also serve as reviewer for the Advanced Emergency Nursing Journal. I am currently employed by the Studer Group as an International Emergency Department Expert and Coach. In this role, I have the opportunity to work with a great team of Coaches in over 1400 Emergency Departments across the United States, Canada and Australia. This role provides me the opportunity to work with many emergency departments including academic, community and rural facilities. As a Coach, I work diligently to improve emergency care for thousands of patients and nurses. With the Nominations Committee, I will dedicate my efforts to removing barriers and aligning our membership. The time is now for us to grow that voice, to bring dialogue and discussion forward around the future of emergency care. Our strength is in our numbers and the compassionate care we provide every day. The greatest thing I can do for our membership is to listen and learn. I will make every effort to network across many disciplines and localities to better understand the needs of Emergency Nurses. Your vote will allow me to dedicate my time and energy to making ENA a vibrant organization that is poised to meet the needs of our profession, our members and the patients we faithfully serve. I appreciate your support for me for the as Nominations Committee, Region Six Representative. Back to top Back to Candidate Menu Page |
