Statement to the Membership
In previous elections some of you did not vote because you didn't know who the candidates were or felt that you had anything in common with those running. To address these concerns let me tell you about myself.

After nine years as an emergency department manager, a year ago I took a staff nurse position on the night shift. Wow. I had always heard that night nurses are different, now I find myself in their shoes. I enjoy my job, appreciate my coworkers and strive to make a difference every day that I go to work. My coworkers would tell you that I am a little OCD, but good to work with, especially once they understand me.

I have served you for three years on the board of directors. Those members who know me would tell you that I have a tendency to be fiscally conservative, (I know how to stretch a dollar). I have integrity and a refreshing, straight forward honesty that comes across in how I deal with others. I hate being late and will leave early to make sure that I am on time to work, meetings or other responsibilities.

If you ask my wife or my 11-year-old son what I am like they may tell you that I work too much. I tend to put importance on values such as church, family, friends and work. I have an analytical mind and approach issues in a logical, direct and confident manner. These characteristics coupled with my reflective listening skills enable me to offer unique solutions.

What does this mean for you? It means that I will work in an honest, conscientious and creative manner to meet your needs. If elected, I will be there to serve you, and to look out for what is best for the organization in both the short term and the long run. I hope that you will consider supporting me in this election. I welcome your questions and want to hear from you. Thank you for this opportunity to run for your president-elect.

Position Statement and Response
The ENA Strategic Framework supports expansion of and fortification of ENA’s membership to generate greater involvement in the emergency nursing community. Under your leadership, what will you do to support and accomplish this goal?
This is a membership driven organization and as president I will listen to the members and work diligently to support them, carry out the strategic plan and promote the success of the association, while giving the work teams and committees the tools they need.
